thickened distal colon

7 yr FS poodle with straining to defecate and suspected constipation. Mucosa very hyperechoic, but looks like distinct wall layering remains. Would you consider ultrasound guided FNA or are risks too high? Have recommended colitis supportive care and fecal exam to start. Other thoughts I’ve had would be diet trial, prednisone trial, colonoscopy with biopsies. The lateral radiographs were from consecutive days with large amount of stool on day one. Thank you for your input!

Would recommend FNA but may require colonoscopy with biopsies for a diagnosis.

Hi Dr. Lobetti! Could this be secondary to an enema? I learned after the fact that the dog had an enema the day before the ultrasound.
